Trooper Grose from the WV State Police will present “Spying on Your Kid’s Electronic Devices 101.” All parents and students of Spring Valley High School and our three feeder middle schools are invited to attend this presentation on Tuesday 2/21/17 at 6:00 pm.
Topics on the presentation will include cybersafety, sexting, cyberbullying, apps parents should look for on mobile devices that are potentially dangerous, and a discussion of relevant laws.
Everyone is welcome and admission is free. This presentation will be held in the auditorium and is hosted by the Spring Valley High School Freshman Academy.

First, we want to express how happy we are with how well the new 1:1 tablet program is going! Teachers routinely express their pleasure with the possibilities the tablets have allowed to enhance their lessons.
We also are aware that some of you are experiencing problems from time to time with your tablets. Here are the more frequent problems that we have seen along with their solutions. The best part is you can fix most of these issues yourself!
Q: My tablet will not turn on or shut down properly.
Solution: 99% of the time this can be fixed by holding in the power button for up to 15 seconds. This will force the tablet to power off. Press the power button again and the tablet should boot right up!

With Engrade both parents and students can:

Spring Valley is very happy to announce that we will be rolling out a 1:1 student to computer ratio beginning this school year. Every Freshmen and Sophomore student will receive a Windows 8 tablet purchased by Wayne County Schools. Every future freshmen class will also receive a tablet.
The tablets will be utilized primarily for Math 9 and Math 10 courses. However students may use them in other classes at teacher discretion. The curriculum and all support materials for the math courses can be downloaded to the devices so students will not need an Internet connection to work at home. However the tablet can be used on the internet at home with full filtering in place.
