Other Scholarships

College and Universities: Numerous scholarships are available through the institution you wish to attend.

Civic organization, such as the American Legion and MENSA, also provide scholarship opportunities.

Businesses are great sources of scholarships, some examples are Little General Stores, Foodland, Lowes, Home Depot, Chase Bank, etc

WEST VIRGINIA DESK AND DERRICK CLUB SCHOLARSHIP: Must be enrolled in an engineering program at WVU.
*Applicant must be a high school senior planning to enroll in a four-year West Virginia College or University.
*Applicant must submit a 300 word essay (double spaced and one sided) explaining, How do you fell the Coronavirus will effect the oil and gas industry? Discuss some potential ramifications on rthe energy industry if it becomes a pandemic.
*This must be postmarked no later than April 1, 2020.
*On a separate piece of paper please list and explain 2 or 3 leadership and/or service activities in which you have been involved in throughout high school and provide a short description of each activity.
*Please provide a letter of recommendation in a sealed envelope from someone other than a family member or friend. Recommendation by a WV Desk and Derrick member is desirable, but not required.
*Scholarships will be made on a one-time only basis.
*All applications MUST be signed by applicant’s guidance counselor or principal.

High school seniors, BURGER KING® employees, their dependent children, spouses or domestic partners in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico can apply to receive up to $50,000 in scholarship awards for the 2019-2020 school year!
High school seniors must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale to be eligible, and must be active in their community through volunteering, sports, clubs and/or religious organizations.

Calvin Coolidge Presidential Scholarship – This scholarship is for high school juniors and the application is available at coolidgescholars.org . This full-ride scholarship will cover tuition, room/board and expenses. $1,000 and $5,000 one-time scholarships may be available to those who are not awarded the full scholarship.  Hagan Scholarship Foundation — The Hagan Scholarship is nationwide need-based merit scholarship. Recipients must graduate from a public high school located in a county in the US having fewer than 50,000 residents. The scholarship provides up to $6,000 each semester for up to 8 consecutive semesters.  Deadline is November 15, 2018 www.hsfmo.org


WVU Extension Service community Educational Outreach Service: Human Service/Education Scholarship, & International Undergraduate Student Scholarship

James “Jim” Bailey Scholarship- 12- $600 scholarship opportunities–

Requirements:  enrollment in a one or two year vocational or technical school, 2.5 GPA or higher(include transcript), good attendance, financial need, community service, excellent character, two letters of recommendation–application is due April 15, 2020.
