JROTC takes honors at HHS competition

CONGRATULATIONS to the SV JROTC Drill Team for placing 2nd overall at the Huntington HS Drill Meet this past Sunday. The Team received 2nd place in LET 1 Color Guard and Senior Color Guard as well as 3rd in Squad Armed Drill. The Drill Team also had 9 cadets place in the top 20 out of 150 cadets in the Armed Knockout Competition, the were: Tori Napier (1st), Katie Ward (3rd), Justing Haywood (7th), Daniel May (10th), Jacob Caldwell (11th), LouRae Pierce (14th), Scottie McCloud (17th), Carlie McCoy (18th), and Ashley Ross (19th).

SV CTE is hosting a canned food drive!

Spring Valley’s Career and Technical Education Center is conducting a canned food drive to help families in need in our community this holiday season.

Students can also get your community service hours by participating. For every 5 cans you donate, you get 1 hour of community service.

Please drop your donations off in the office at the CTE building or in the main building in Rooms 215, 228, 230, 232. ENDS December 17th.

Yearbook sale information updated

The yearbook staff is working hard to bring the best book possible to Spring Valley for the 2014-2015 school year. Books are on sale at http://www.jostensyearbooks.com. The cost is $65 order now before the price goes up!

If parents of seniors would like to purchase recognition ads for the back of the book, contact Mrs. Litteral athlitteral@k12.wv.us for prices and sizes.

Also, if any parent or student would like to submit photos for the yearbook, please send them in an e-mail or to the school on a CD for consideration. Action shots are preferred.
