Student Council Election Information and Application Form

SVHS STUDENT COUNCIL ELECTION 2020-2021

Student Council will work to make Spring Valley High School a better place for all students, staff, and the community.  Due to Covid-19, we’re not presently able to participate in all of the activities in which we would normally do so.  However, if we see improvement, our hope is that Student Council will be able to hold regular meetings and conduct some of the business usually associated with effectively operating student councils.  Student Council officers should run the weekly meetings which will be held at a day and time that will be determined on the main campus of SVHS.

As a leader, we expect the Student Council and its officers to plan most of the social and school spirit events, including dances, assemblies, etc.  They will also sponsor and organize community service events for Spring Valley High School such as food drives, Angel Tree projects at Christmas time, etc.  The officers of Student Council will work closely with its sponsor and administration to carry out its responsibilities.

Student Council officers’ participation in graduation will be different than in previous years.  This year, in addition to Student Council participating, we will begin to recognize students at graduation who have excelled academically and are at the top of their class by allowing them to deliver an address to their fellow graduates.

Being an officer of Student Council is a big responsibility.  In a normal year, it will require a large time commitment before school, after school, and perhaps on weekends.  While 2020-2021 is a different year, everyone who wishes to be on student council going forward should please consider carefully whether or not you are able to make this commitment.
